Release vs Process in The Emotion Code Understanding the Healing Dynamics

Emotional healing often involves navigating complex feelings and memories that can feel overwhelming or confusing. In The Emotion Code®, two terms stand out as key to this journey: release and process. While they might sound similar, they represent very different ideas about how emotional baggage is addressed and resolved. Understanding these differences can help you better grasp how this method works and what to expect during your healing sessions.

What Release Means in The Emotion Code

In The Emotion Code, release refers to a specific technique designed to free trapped emotions from the body. These trapped emotions are not just memories or thoughts; they are energy blocks that lodge in the body after unresolved emotional experiences. Instead of fading away naturally, these emotional energies become stuck, often manifesting as physical pain, emotional patterns, or disruptions in the body's normal function.

The release process involves three clear steps:

  • Communicating with the subconscious mind using muscle testing (kinesiology). This allows the practitioner to identify what the subconscious mind holds as trapped emotions.

  • Identifying the trapped emotion by name and origin, pinpointing when the emotion first became stuck is sometimes required.

  • Releasing the trapped emotion by running a magnet or the practitioner’s hand along the Governing Meridian, a line that runs along the spine and over the head. The person holds the emotion in awareness with the intention to release it. In remote sessions the practitioner uses their body as proxy for the recipient.

This method is elegant because it works quickly and does not require the person to relive or analyze the emotional experience consciously. You don’t need to remember the details or understand why the emotion got stuck. Once identified, the trapped energy can be discharged in seconds, often without any strong sensation.

Why Release Is Powerful

  • Speed: Releases happen quickly, often within seconds.

  • No emotional overload: You don’t have to sit with painful feelings or memories.

  • Physical and emotional relief: Many people notice improvements in pain or mood immediately after a release.

For example, someone suffering from chronic back pain might discover through muscle testing that a trapped emotion related to a past stressful event is contributing to their discomfort. After releasing that emotion, they may feel a noticeable reduction in pain without needing to revisit the memory consciously.

What Process Means in The Emotion Code

Process in The Emotion Code refers to what happens after a release session. It is a physiological and energetic integration period where the body adjusts to the changes made by releasing trapped emotions.

When multiple emotions are released in one session, the body can experience a kind of temporary overload. During this time, muscle testing may become less reliable because the body is busy recalibrating. This processing phase allows the body to absorb the shifts in energy and begin healing at a deeper level.

Experience of Processing

  • Temporary: Processing usually lasts hours to days after a session.

  • Integration: The body works to balance and normalize after emotional energy shifts.

  • Possible symptoms: Some people might feel tired, emotional, or notice changes in physical symptoms as the body adjusts.

For example, after releasing several trapped emotions related to grief, a person might feel emotionally drained or physically fatigued for a day or two. This is a sign that the body is processing the changes and moving toward healing.

How Release and Process Work Together

Release and process are two parts of a healing cycle in The Emotion Code. Release is the active step where trapped emotions are freed, while process is the passive phase where the body integrates those changes.

Understanding this cycle helps set realistic expectations:

  • You might feel immediate relief after a release.

  • You might also experience a processing period where your body and emotions adjust.

  • Both are necessary for lasting healing.

Practitioners often recommend pacing sessions to allow for proper processing, especially when dealing with significant trauma or deep emotional patterns.

Practical Tips for Clients

  • Stay hydrated after sessions to help your body process changes.

  • Rest when needed, especially if you feel tired or emotional.

  • Journal your experiences to track changes and insights.

  • Communicate openly with your practitioner about how you feel during processing.

  • Be patient with your body’s natural healing timeline.

Simply Put

The words release and process describe two distinct but connected parts of emotional healing in The Emotion Code. Release is the targeted removal of trapped emotional energy using muscle testing and the Governing Meridian. Process is the body’s natural integration phase following release, where healing continues on a physiological level.

Your emotional health deserves attention and care, and knowing how these two concepts work can empower you to take meaningful steps toward relief and balance.
